Complete character description: Elminster is, more than likely, the greatest mage on the face of Abeir-Toril as well as a fair fighter and thief. He appears as a gray-bearded man of weathered visage, gruff tone, alert, dancing eyes and nondescript attire. He is almost always smoking a meerschaum pipe that is spouting some vile blue or green smoke. Personality: Elmister is a consumate actor and delights in acts of whimsy, helping the needy and lovelorn and dispensing poetic justice to those who deserve it. He rarely reveals the full extent of his true nature to anyone who is not an extremely close friend. He can portray himself as a trickster, a rake, a stern father figure, or any other stereotype he wants to assume, depending on what he wants to accomplish or what reaction he wants to elicit from those around him. He has a heart of gold, a deep need to bring tyrannical, pompous and cruel persons low. Background: Elminster was a prince in the kingdom of Athalantar, when his family was murdered by a power-hungry sect of wizards. He initally swore off magic, eventually coming back to it, realizing that magic is just a tool, what you do with it is what matters. He served as an apprentice in the elven city of Myth Drannor. During the Time of Troubles, when the gods were cast out of their celestial realms to the material plane, Elminster helped by safeguarding a portion of the goddess Mystra's essence. He has been to Hell and back (literally). Now he tires to do whatever he can to help out the Realms. As a scream reverberated in his mind, he realized something terrible had happened to Mystra and that magic in the Realms would never be the same again. As he thought and watched as magic erupted across Faerun, he vanished from the face of the planet... Weaknesses: His advanced years are begining to catch up to Elminster, and he prefers to act through agents rather than acting himself. He is prone to long reveries in which he sees again people and places long vanished. He also, coming from a world more magical than technological, knows next to nothing about modern appliances. Strengths: Extremely powerful mage, excellent at getting along with people, great sense of humor. Likes: A good joke, good-hearted people, helping others. Dislikes: Tyrants, bullies, those without a sense of humor. Talents and hobbies: Magic, storytelling, generally helping, training apprentices. Friends and family: All his family are long dead, save his daughters. His allies include the Harpers (an organization he helped found), the Seven Sisters (other Chosen of Mystra) and various good hearted people all over Faerun.
